Corona Virus Quarantine and an Earthquake!

This has been the craziest week ever!
We have heard all about the Chinese virus, COvid 19 since the end of 2019. Last week things really amped up here in the US and everything changed. School, general conference, all outside activities, and work was cancelled, businesses closed, and everyone is suppose to stay home and social isolation. There is no church, no friends, no sports, no activities etc... It is so crazy!
Before all fo this happened Taylor was gathering clothes and blankets etc.. for his youthlinc trip. Here is his pile it was almost 500 lbs. 

I took Isaac lunch on his 12th bday! He wanted Chik Fil A and it was fun to see him at school. Love that Isaac! 

We have been making lots of pizzas on our pizza oven this was a smore's pizza and it was tasty!
We have been having fires and cooking dinners outside with all of our extra time together. 

Before the social distancing started Lizzie had her  big 3rd grade play "The Jungle Book" It was a great play and she was Shanty in the play. She was so sad they had to cancel their other performances! 

Isaac went swimming at his friends grandma's apartment , check out that awesome view! 

Right when all this craziness began Taylor left for CA for a MTB race. He raced really well in his category and had a great trip! Luckily he was able to get home when the race was over. 

Exercise classes at Ali Peterson's house because all of the Gyms are closed! This is such an awesome thing because I miss the gym SO much!

We have been going on lots of walks, playing outside, hikes with Salty, playing games, the kids bought an Xbox, and cooking etc...
We were on a walk the other day and Isaac fell while riding his Boogie board and hurt his wrist! We haven't taken him in to see the Dr. but I was so sad for him! He really gets hurt so often!  This has been such a stressful week!

Wednesday 3/18/20 we had an Earthquake in SLC!
It happened at 7:10 AM and it was 5.7 on the scale. We were SO freaked out and really startled! We started panicking getting things really ready like our 72 hr kits, water, food in the car ready to go etc.. It was crazy and scary too! Things were damaged in some areas of the valley and the temple was damaged too. What a crazy day!  That night Lizzie was really scared and did not want to sleep in her bed, poor girl, I was scared too.
This whole new reality feels like a really bad dream, and I wish it would go back to normal.
We have been stocking up on LOTS of food, firewood, propane, gas, dog food etc..  This is such a crazy time!

Saturday one week after this all started we took the boat out, it was the perfect way to Social distance from anyone else. Its a cold day on the boat, but lots of fun fishing and it felt SO good to be outside!

Sunday after our Home Church we went on a nice long hike as a family and with Salty. We had a great time and it almost felt like life was normal again. We had to cancel our Spring Break trip to Hawaii because of this Virus, and it's just been a really long, challenging, stressful week!

Taylor has been collecting tons of clothes/shoes/ fabric/bedding etc.. for his Humanitarian trip to Fiji! HE has to have 450 pounds to donate next week. Here's our pile so far. 

Taylor went to the Sweethearts Dance with his friend Elle Morgan. They had tons of fun and it was a great dance he said. 

Happy 12th Birthday to Isaac! He is such a great boy and really growing up, he's the best! 

We went skiing at Alta last week with Grandpa Shields.  We had a nice warm sunny day of skiing. Everyone had a blast! My kids are getting really good at skiing and it's hard to keep up with them. 

We went out in the boat to Jordanelle last weekend. It was nice day, and we explored in the boat and went fishing. We caught Kokanee salmon and we all had a great time! Danny is really antsy to get fishing again. Half of the lake was iced over.

Taylor had his Board of Review for his Eagle, we are so proud of him! He was one of the last in our area to earn his Eagle since the church stopped supporting scouts. Lizzie celebrated Alli's birthday with a gift for her. 

Happy Birthday to Isaac! We celebrated with homemade pizza and a delicious dessert pizza! He really wanted a big Comfy for his birthday and that's what he got! Hope he loves it! 

We had a great week: Lizzie completed her Country report about Italy, she was so excited and did an awesome job!
Taylor has been helping and tutoring Emily with her math, its been great both both kids!
Isaac finished his basketball season of Jr. Jazz. Taylor has been on a lot of bike rides outside when it's not too snowy, and my car hit the odometer at 52,000.

We had a full week of Celebrations for Lizzie's 9th birthday!!!
She had a fun sleepover with her cousin Alli who gave her a gigantic squishy and she was thrilled!!!!
They slept in a fort on the couch.  Emily is deep into the school play of Newsies! She is a dancer and a Manhattan Newsie! We celebrated the Feb birthdays with dinner at Sawadee and it was tasty!! 

We had a Shields Family dinner and celebrated again with dinner and chocolate cake for all! It was a fun party! 

On Lizzie's real birthday she had waffles for breakfast, I took her Chik-Fil-A for lunch at school and she took treats to dance after school. Then that night we had ravioli, salad and bread for dinner and Almond cake with fruit and berries for dessert.  G & G Shields came over and we sang Happy Birthday and she opened her gifts! She had a terrific day and was spoiled!!!

We went to the Bauman's play, Annie it was great!
WE had warmer day so we played at the park. The kids had SEP's at Uintah and they are both doing great in their classes. Lizzie and Isaac both got haircuts, and Danny and I went to the Jazz game and got to sit in the Zions Bank suite! It's so fun and make the games so awesome!!!
